Hard Cider Tastings

Come Experience Pennings Farm Cidery Nestled in Our Picturesque Orange County Orchard

Tastings are Available for Small/Private Groups:

• 4-8 guests per group
• $20 per person, over 21 only.

30-Minute Group Tasting Includes:

• Six Pennings Cider Samples
• One Pennings Apple Vodka Samples.
• About Pennings Cidery hard ciders, how they’re produced, unique properties.
• Brief history of Pennings Farm and Cidery,
• “Bet You Didn’t Know” details about apples and hard cider.
• A glimpse into our hard cider making facility.

Tasting Schedule:

• 30 minute tastings are available on the hour
• Friday 2-4pm, Saturday 1-3pm and Sunday.
• Payment in full is required upon reservations and includes gratuity.

All tasting groups are welcome to stay after their tasting experience to grab a table and continue sipping on pints of hard cider or locally crafted beer and enjoy our made to order Neapolitan style brick oven pizza.
Our Bottle Shop can be shopped for six-packs of Pennings Cider and Pennings Beer, Pennings Apple Vodka, growlers to go, and Pennings t-shirts.

More About Our Production Space and Hard Ciders:

When you visit our facility you will see the newly installed equipment that has taken the spotlight at Pennings Cidery, which includes a new fleet of six fermentation tanks and one brite tank where cider is stored after fermentation. This new system will allow the business to grow to 50,000 gallons per year. Pennings cider-makers fill the winter hours producing cider from Pennings’ own orchard grown apples and experiment with new ciders produced from apples grown on NY State orchards including Cornell Orchards, Lynn Oaken Farms (Steam Punk Cider), Black Diamond Farms (Black Diamond Cider), DeFisher Fruit Farms (Root Stock Cider), Ochs Orchard and Minard Farms.

Everything grown on Pennings Farm is a viable ingredient to include in cider recipes. From the apple, peach and apricot orchards and pumpkin patch hale signature ciders including Peach Fuzz and Pumpkin Cider. Our one-acre hopyard and beehives provide key ingredients for Honey Hopped and the mead-style cider, Cyser. When ingredients aren’t grown on the farm, fruits and vegetables are out-sourced from local farmers and producers. Neighbor syrup makers at Finding Home Farms supply the syrupy goodness found in Maple Vanilla. Beets from the black dirt of Pine Island, NY add the earthy surprise to Ginger Beet.

You may also try some of our single varietals available only in the Taproom, including Rhode Island Greening, Northern Spy, Braeburn, Pinata, Golden Russet, Baldwin, Gold Rush and Crab Apple.

“I recently started following Pennings Farm on Facebook and saw that they were hosting a private Cider Tasting. We didn’t even think twice on branching out to something different and opened our plans up to friends and family. I spoke with Annie who had helped us by answering a few questions. Day of, here we are, having no idea what we are going into. We’re met at the top of the hill by Pennings Security guard Jim who escorts us to the door. We walk in, meet Annie and Steve and the adventure had begun.
Steve, who just so happens to be a Pennings, invites us to have a seat, rest, relax and we all get to know Steve, Annie and the history of Pennings. WHAT A WONDERFUL HISTORY!
Tasting was amazing! Steve took great care of us and kept the atmosphere fun and exciting with his animated and positive charisma. Having not eaten all day, my Wife had asked Annie for one of their famous brick oven pizzas and within 5 minutes, there it was. DELICIOUS! Steve had shown us the cidery and again, shared history of the place.
Since we came on such a beautiful, sunny day, we had the opportunity to hang out through out the afternoon at the cidery. Now, we thought that the fun was behind us. Nope, we were wrong. We come outside to the food, bar and (covid friendly) seating area which is nestled right around the trees where the apples grow.
We ordered our ciders – I strongly suggest the Cold Crash, and went on to order our foods. We got the amazingly delicious Arugula fig and balsamic, Neapolitan pizzas and a cucumber, tomato mozzarella salad. I’m pretty sure that anything that you order here will be absolutely delightful!
Before leaving, we simply had to stop by the market to take some of this amazing place home with us. The cherry pie is, as everything else, delicious!
